Adolescent Therapy in Cranford, NJ
Is life with your adolescent becoming unmanageable?
Maybe you had a big blow up or perhaps they are depressed, anxious or will not leave their room. You may be struggling with understanding and supporting your adolescent. Perhaps you are feeling at your wits end and do not know how to help them.
Whatever it is that you are experiencing, you are beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
You notice they’re irritable, angry or lash out on you or other family members.
Your adolescent is refusing or struggling in school and/or peer relationships
They’re not expressing their feelings, lacking confidence and shut you out
You don’t know what to do when they shut down and appear anxious or depressed
Adolescent therapy can help.
It may feel impossible now, but you can connect with your adolescent again. You can communicate better as a family. You can support them. And I can help you get there.
Adolescent Therapy Helps You Do 3 Things:
-
Gives your adolescent a safe space to talk about their feelings, process them and be able to communicate them appropriately
-
Helps your teen develop positive coping skills, build confidence, and help them become comfortable in their own skin
-
It will help them challenge negative beliefs about themselves that they’ve internalized and have been beating themselves up about
I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to adolescent therapy comes from a place of building confidence and empowerment: helping your adolescent recognize that they aren’t “broken”, but simply struggling to recognize their strengths and believe in themselves.
Feeling hopeless & lost doesn’t have to be your child’s story.
I can help you get there.
FAQs
What are adolescent therapy sessions like & will I be a part of every session?
Typically I will meet with your family and adolescent during the intake appointment to get a sense of what’s coming up. There will be times where I may meet with your adolescent individually during the intake to build rapport and create a safe space. For ongoing sessions I will typically do a parent check in at the beginning of each session. We will then determine when family sessions are needed based on individual needs. This is a fluid process and there will be ongoing conversations regarding sessions throughout the therapeutic process.
Will you tell me what my adolescent talks about during therapy?
Sessions are confidential between myself and your adolescent unless they are reporting they want to hurt themselves/someone else or if they’re reporting that someone is abusing them. If there are concerns around decision making, the goal is that I’m working with your adolescent to build the confidence and trust to be able to speak to you about what is happening in their life.
How long does treatment last?
When an adolescent first starts therapy I recommend meeting on a weekly basis. Based on rapport building and improvement we can then titrate down to biweekly, monthly and then transition. This will be tailored to each child/family’s needs and there will be ongoing discussions throughout the therapeutic process.
Are sessions held in person or via telehealth?
For my adolescent clients I typically recommend meeting in person in my office in Cranford. Telehealth can be used to supplement in person sessions as part of a hybrid plan. This can be reviewed and adjusted as needed to best meet your child’s needs.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out of network provider with insurance. I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance or I use a biller named Advekit to mediate that process for clients. I can provide further details during our initial free consultation.
What are your fees?
The fee for 45 minute weekly sessions is $175.
The fee for the 60 minute intake is $225.
How do we get started?
The first step is to schedule your free 15 minute consultation to discuss your child’s needs, determine if I’m the right therapist for your child/family and if so, schedule an intake appointment.
