Child Therapy in Cranford, NJ
Is your child anxious, depressed or having a hard time with their emotions?
Maybe they have gotten in trouble in school or perhaps your child has begun asking why do my parents fight so much. They may be struggling with not listening or they are “shutting down”. Perhaps you are feeling defeated or challenged as a parent.
Whatever it is that you are experiencing, you are beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
your child is struggling in school and/or with peers
your family is constantly arguing or stressed
your child’s struggles are causing a strain in your parenting/coparenting
Child Therapy can help.
Child Therapy Helps In 3 Ways:
-
Your child and family will learn the tools to improve communication
-
Your child will learn to identify their feelings and express their emotions in a developmentally appropriate way
-
Your child will learn positive coping skills, frustration tolerance and build confidence in themselves
I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to child therapy comes from a place of understanding and support: knowing that every child deserves a safe space to express strong feelings without being reprimanded or judged
It’s time to support your child.
I can help you get there.
FAQs
What are child therapy sessions like?
During sessions I meet the child where they are at by identifying their likes and strengths which helps build rapport and trust. I incorporate play to facilitate the expression of feelings, building frustration tolerance, confidence and positive coping skills.
Will I be a part of every session?
Typically I will do a parent check in at the beginning or end of a session to get a sense of how the week went and what has been coming up. Through the therapeutic process family sessions will be incorporated in between individual sessions with the child. This is a fluid process that is tailored to each child/family’s needs. There will be ongoing discussions to address these needs as part of a treatment plan.
How long does treatment last?
When a child first starts therapy I recommend meeting on a weekly basis. Based on rapport building and improvement we can then titrate down to biweekly, monthly and then transition. This will be tailored to each child/family’s needs and there will be ongoing discussions throughout the therapeutic process.
Are sessions held in person or via telehealth?
For my child clients I typically recommend meeting in person in my office in Cranford. Telehealth can be used to supplement in person sessions as part of a hybrid plan, but I’ve found most children have a difficult time with virtual therapy. This can be reviewed and adjusted as needed to best meet a child’s needs.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out of network provider with insurance. I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance or I use a biller named Advekit to mediate that process for clients. I can provide further details during our initial free consultation.
What are your fees?
The fee for 45 minute weekly sessions is $175.
The fee for the 60 minute intake is $225.
How do we get started?
The first step is to schedule your free 15 minute consultation to discuss your child’s needs, determine if I’m the right therapist for your child/family and if so, schedule an intake appointment.
